Due to forecasted temperature drops, flash freezing, and the potential of hazardous road conditions throughout the day, Niangua Schools will be closed today, Jan. 12th, 2024. No AMI will be used today. If traveling, please be safe and stay warm!

Parents and Guardians,
We wanted to communicate that we will be closely monitoring the forecast as we move into this evening and tomorrow morning. The potential rain/snow this evening combined with the forecasted drop in temperatures (“flash freezing”) tomorrow morning could create unfavorable road conditions throughout the day and into dismissal. If the decision to cancel school is made, we will make every effort to communicate that decision by 5:30AM Friday morning.
Also in the forecast for the weekend and early next week is an extreme drop in temperatures and wind chills. Minimum wind chills throughout the weekend will vary between -5 to -25 degrees. This creates the chance for frostbite to exposed skin within 5 minutes of exposure. Tuesday morning’s windchill is expected to be between -20 and -25 degrees. We will be monitoring these temperatures and will make every effort to communicate a decision regarding school in a timely manner.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding as we encounter winter conditions. We will always err on the side of caution in order to protect the reason why we are here - your children and our students!
Thank you!
Dr. Baker

Due to poor road conditions, Niangua R-V School District will be closed on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024.

Due to forecasted weather and the potential of hazardous road conditions throughout the day, Niangua Schools will be closed today, Jan. 9th, 2024. No AMI will be used today. If traveling, please be safe!

Basketball tonight 1/8/24 with Crocker, has been canceled. Reschedule is pending.

With winter weather in the forecast, here is a quick reminder of our winter weather policy:
Parents and guardians will be notified through text alerts, automated phone calls, and emails as soon as a decision is made to close the district due to inclement weather. All closures will also be posted on Niangua Schools social media, our website, and local news media. The decision to close schools will be made in coordination with the national weather service and with the safety of our students and staff as our priority.
Regular snow days will be used first. They are built into the current calendar. If we go over the allotted days, we will use Alternate Methods of Instruction (AMI) days where students work from home.
If you have questions or would like further information, please contact Niangua Superintendent, Dr. David Baker, at dbaker@nianguaschools.com.
Thank you!
